Aave Launches NFT-based Social Media on Polygon

Aave, a DeFi lending protocol, launched a social media platform called Lens Protocol built on Polygon blockchain.  It uses NFT assets to power social media platforms and provide unique web3 social experience.

Essentially, Aave’s new social media project will provide users complete control over their social profiles and content via NFTs.  The company’s CEO Stani Kulechov believes that people need a new way to connect virtually in social media.

However, the web3 space is expanding at the speed of light recently.  Aave aims to deliver more social experiences than Twitter using the latest technologies, including NFTs.

“As seen from Elon Musk’s bid to purchase Twitter, people are ready for a better experience than what they’re used to. Ownership over not only the content you create online, but also your profile and social network is long overdue, and empowering users is what Lens aims to achieve”, Aave CEO Stani Kulechov said in a statement.

Lens Protocol also has competitors in the web3 space.  For instance, the NFT marketplace Gamma will soon launch web3 social network.  Also, the web3 social media platform Playground got noticed by users recently.  Nonetheless, all of the web3 social media platforms allow us to explore new paths for web3 socialization.
