Ubisoft ghosted their NFT game project with Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Last updated:

Ghost Recon Breakpoint was first released in October 2019 with poor reception and had trouble finding the right audience. The online tactical shooter had frequent updates to improve performance and attract gamers.

Ubisoft Quartz tried to integrate its first NFT items as part of Breakpoint a couple of months ago, in hopes to inject excitement and revitalizing the struggling project. Unfortunately, the general gaming community for AAA titles was not biting and lashed out on social media.

Today, Ubisoft is breaking away from Breakpoint. The publisher stated, “The last four months marked the release of our final piece of content: the brand new Operation Motherland mode, tons of new items including 20th-anniversary iconic outfits and Quartz items for Ghost Recon Breakpoint”.

The publisher might have ended releasing any more new updates to Breakpoint but this might be just their first attempt to integrate NFTs into their products.

There is internal frustration with the direction of the company between the developers and the higher-up strategies. Ubisoft seems to be actively trying to recruit for blockchain-related roles.
